At the UCSD ARCLab, I'm building MERCURY, a system to enable robotic surgery from anywhere. Leveraging the Oculus VR device and the Da Vinci Surgical Robot, such a system could be extremely useful - it would reduce the cost of teleoperated surgery, enable efficient data collection for learning algorithms, and allow easier surgeon training for teleoperated surgery.
